Nader (Peyman Moadi) and Simin (Leila Halami) live in central Teheran. As their marriage develops and their only daughter grows older they start to argue about the possibility of living abroad. Simin is very keen to move to provide a better opportunity for Termeh (Sarina Farghadi). Nader however refuses to leave Iran because of his responsibilities for his father.
This conflict can only be resolved by Simin seeking a divorce – but in Iran this is virtually impossible.
